Curls Are Life!

I started on Biotin on Sunday night, 5000 mcgs a day. That coupled with the Mega-Tek twice a week (leave in) should provide steady results. No shampoo, just co-washes once a week (right now, with Tressemme Flawless Curls Moisturizing Conditioner), and Finesse Moisturizing conditioner is MY daily go-to moisturizer (leave in). My brain is ingrained with Teri LaFlesh's "Curly Like Me" method.

The curly hair pins on Pinterest is LIFE! I can't wait for it to grow out. I'm not going to self sabotage myself like I did the two times before. I KNOW what my hair can and will do. I have to bow down to my hair. I have to let my hair be. So hard, but I have to. Maybe this is my punishment for doing what I did before (bleaching, then textlaxing, then the color remover = hair like cotton). I'm only going to textlax when it looks too unruly (for my standards). Once it's shoulder length (year three), I may ombre the ends.

Curly hair.... I'm so obsessed.

The Mega-Tek was delivered today and on my head as soon as I could open the box. Not bad shipping, since I just ordered it on Tuesday. I'm going to do Mega-Tek once a week, and do growth pictures once a month, on the 6th or 7th. If all goes well, and I have the patience, I'll see shoulder length in three years. I just have to think of my hair as a "non-issue", something that I have, like my skin. I'll take care of it, but not do too much to it. Wash once a month (or more, depending on the smell/buildup of conditioner), co-wash every 3 days, Mega-Tek once a week, daily use of Finesse Moisturizing conditioner, and hope my greys don't take over.
Here's my monthly picture, dry curls, then combed out (before I rinsed today's application of Mega-Tek out):
Today is my "official" starting point. I'm starting at a longer length than my original big chop of 2009. I want to really try to stretch out the textlaxing applications. I want to see some curly "beady-beads" before I do another application. I'm thinking September... ha ha.

Craving Curly Hair

Also, during my blogging hiatus, a wonderful thing called Pinterest was invented. I won't need to explain what Pinterest is, as most people have Pinterest pages... for those who don't know, Pinterest is a website where you can "pin" photos and links on to a page on their website. I've been scouring pins for curly hair, and it's activated my obsession. I'm going to go through the 'too long for short/too short for long stages', and grit these next three.... yes, THREE years out. Today, I even ordered a bottle of  Mega-Tek from I think it worked....

Of course, this also included lace wigs and protecting my hair in cornrows. It also meant losing my hair edges from time to time. I don't think I want to go the lace wig route this time. I'm living in Georgia, and I don't think I can deal with the heat and the adhesives. I'm going to grin and bear that unyielding grow out stage. My mom doesn't do anything to her hair and she's been growing it out for four years and it's down her back, and all natural. She's my inspiration.
